4: Co-dependent or NF?
Co-dependent people define themselves as half of “us”;they are dependent on their relationship with another as a source of their own identity. In Type, a preference for both iNtuition and Feeling (NF) produces a drive to connect to and to harmonize with another person or group. NFs build and nurture an interpersonal bridge on which relationships and harmony are central. The challenge for NFs is to face conflict, to offer—when warranted—sharpened critiques and feedback, and to go it alone when necessary. When NFs cannot or do not approach other people with sufficient push back or objectivity, they can be seen as overly relational and sensitive, as co-dependent.
